Absorbents attract humidity and are necessary to help preserve the integrity of your equipment. Even when wrapped up, products are surrounded by air. Absorbents like silica gel or Super Dry attracts humidity within the wrapping, consequently preventing corrosion or humidity damage. Metal corrosion can generally be avoided by keeping the Relative Humidity (RH) below 50 percent.
Silica gel is made from silicon oxide and is supplied as powder or granulation. Silica gel is capable of absorbing approx. 40 percent of its own weight with water.
