Problem

Problem

Corrosion had already begun during the equipment’s transit to China, threatening asset integrity, reliability, and long-term operational performance. Immediate action was required to halt further corrosion and prepare the equipment for final assembly in China. Presserv was tasked with both removing the initiated corrosion and implementing advanced preservation techniques to ensure the equipment entered assembly in optimal condition. This approach is aligned with best practices in corrosion prevention, preservation management, and asset protection during international transport.

Application

Application

Presserv executed a targeted, full-service preservation plan using Cortec® branded VpCI® products to protect critical mechanical systems. The circulation pump was treated with VpCI® 649 BD, a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor applied at 1.5% concentration, providing long-term protection against internal corrosion and supporting safe storage and transit. The faces of the flanges were coated with VpCI® 368, a waxy, dry-to-touch protective film that resists water, UV exposure, and corrosive environments. This film ensured effective corrosion prevention for sensitive surfaces during handling, shipping, and assembly. The lubrication system was preserved with VpCI® 329, a specialized additive for hydraulic and bearing systems, forming a protective layer to prevent mechanical corrosion while maintaining system readiness. This comprehensive application strategy reinforced preservation of pipes, valves, and rotating equipment in line with complex preservation and re-preservation standards, enhancing asset reliability and minimizing potential downtime.

Conclusion

Conclusion

All preservation activities were completed safely, with zero work incidents or environmental impacts. By combining Cortec® nanotechnology corrosion inhibitors with Presserv’s proven preservation techniques, the project safeguarded critical assets during transit and storage. This integrated approach demonstrates best-in-class corrosion protection, pipeline and equipment preservation, and dehumidification solutions, reinforcing the value of professional preservation management for industrial equipment. Presserv (Brazil) appreciates the opportunity to deliver a reliable, high-performance preservation service that ensures asset integrity, supports operational sustainability, and extends equipment lifespan.
